Address Setting Overview

Address Setting Overview

In a Metacentre Core system, the Metacentre Core itself and all Metacentre Core TAGs and all Airmaster interfaces are interconnected with one serial connection based on RS485: Airbus485.
Over this serial Airbus485, all communication is taking place between the devices.
It is required that all devices on the Airbus485 communication bus have a unique address within a specified range.
The Metacentre Core itself is on a fixed address and as such does not need to be set up.
The Metacentre Core TAGs and the AirMaster Interfaces need an address according to:
• Being unique
• If N is the amount of compressors: ranging from 1 to N
• Clear link which compressor asset corresponds to which address

The Metacentre Core TAGs and the AirMaster interfaces do not come from the factory with these addresses pre-set.
Hence, during the installation these addresses will have to be set.
The Address Setting process enables you to have the addresses properly set.

Steps to be followed are (which are further explained in other help pages when relevant):

Preparation
For each compressor asset, the following information is needed
• Its name
• Its address
• Its type (AirMaster interface / Metacentre TAG)
• For Metacentre Core TAGs: the Article Number and Serial Number

This information has already partly been provided during Asset Configuration. The part of interest being:

For the Metacentre Core TAGs, the Article Number and Serial Number are printed on a sticker on the side of its housing:

So one way or another, you get a list resembling:

AirMaster Interface address setting
This part of address setting is done manually using the Interface's screen and keyboard.

Metacentre TAG address setting
This part of address setting is semi-automatic.

Validation
The last step is a validation where we verify all addresses are unique, in the right sequence and allocated to the correct compressor assets.
