Introduction to Metacentre CORE Products (for First-Time Users)

If you're new to Metacentre CORE, understanding the main products and their purpose will help you get started — whether you're installing the system or seeking support.  This article gives a plain-language overview of the Metacentre CORE product range.  It covers what each component does, without unnecessary detail, so you can quickly grasp how the system fits together.

For more detailed information, you can refer to the product brochure, individual datasheets (linked at the end of each section), or visit the main product website at www.metacentre.eu.

CORE: Central Management System

Metacentre CORE is the main controller in a compressed air installation.  It manages and optimises the operation of up to six air compressors, regardless of brand or type (fixed-speed or variable-speed).

It provides:

  1. Unified control of mixed compressor types
  2. Load balancing and performance optimisation
  3. A built-in touchscreen for on-site access and monitoring
For more detailed information, refer to the CORE datasheet or brochure.

LINK+ and DRIVE+ are interface modules that connect individual compressors to the CORE controller.

  1. LINK+ connects fixed-speed compressors
  2. DRIVE+ connects variable-speed compressors

Both modules:

  1. Transfer real-time status and control signals
  2. Enable fallback protection
  3. Allow CORE to coordinate the full system
  4. DRIVE+ also includes high-speed switching for fine control of VSD compressors
For more detailed information, refer to the LINK+ and DRIVE+ datasheet.

UltraSync Fast-Switch: Signal Handling for VSD

The UltraSync Fast-Switch is included with every DRIVE+ module.  It handles fast switching between the compressor’s local controller and Metacentre CORE.

When CORE is in control, UltraSync routes signals to it. If CORE is disabled or a fault occurs, control automatically reverts back to the compressor's own controller.  This ensures maximum uptime and stability, especially for VSD compressors.

CLOUD+: Remote Access and Monitoring

CLOUD+ is an optional upgrade that gives the CORE system internet connectivity for remote access.

It includes:

  1. A cellular modem
  2. An antenna
  3. Integration with the online Aircloud platform (mirrors local touchscreen view)

The modem can be DIN rail-mounted inside the CORE unit.

For more detailed information, refer to the CLOUD+ and Reach Kit datasheet.

CLOUD+ Reach Kit: Extended Antenna Placement

The CLOUD+ Reach Kit is an optional accessory for situations where signal strength is weak or there’s interference.

It allows the CLOUD+ modem and antenna to be placed up to 100 metres from the CORE unit. It includes:

  1. A separate enclosure for housing and powering the modem
  2. An Ethernet port (RJ45) for linking to CORE (cable not included)

This setup improves signal reliability by allowing flexible antenna placement.

For more detailed information, refer to the CLOUD+ and Reach Kit datasheet.

Aircloud: Web-Based Monitoring Interface

Aircloud is the browser-based platform that displays your compressed air system data online. It includes:

  1. Dashboards, charts, and gauges
  2. Visuals similar to what’s seen on the CORE’s touchscreen
  3. Requires the CLOUD+ upgrade to transmit data online
